47 Hour Firearms Training Course $600.00
The 47 Hour Firearms Training Course is for current security guards who would like to upgrade their license to work as an ARMED SECURITY GUARD, or for persons who have received a Pistol Permit and have had little or no training and wish to attend a course and receive high quality Firearms instructions and practice. Instruction will be given in several areas such as shooting drills, Article 35 of the Penal Law of New York State (Justification – Use of Force and Deadly Force), tactical considerations, shoot and move, ammunition concerns, post incident trauma, holsters and weapon retention, care and cleaning, safety procedures and consequences of a shooting. In addition, different types of firearms and their safe storage will be discussed as well. Excellent training course with a lot of shooting drills.
This cost of this training course is $600.00 with a down payment of $300.00 required after which time the course information will be sent to each applicant via US Mail or email. This information will instruct students where to report and what to bring such as number of rounds (750-850), eye and ear protection, cleaning kits, leather or vinyl goods, magazines 2 or more, or speed loaders 3 or more, at least a level II good quality holster, gun belt if possible or equivalent, etc. This course is taught by certified POLICE FIREARM INSTRUCTORS with over twenty (25) years of experience. All instruction is local with NO long distance driving. Balance due the first day of class ($300.00). Some ammunition such as 9mm, 40mm and 45 GAP rounds are stocked and can be purchased at DSS for cost ($18.00-22.00 per box of 50). Other ammo may be obtained with some advance notice given to DSS upon registration. Weapons must be a caliber of 9mm, 40 cal. or 45 cal. Revolvers must be 38 caliber or higher. No 22, 32 or 380 calibers allowed. Three Magazines needed for autos and 2 or 3 speed loaders needed for revolvers. No restrictions on ammo use for the range.
It’s the best available. Depending upon enrollment, the course is scheduled as stated below noted below. A packet will be sent to registered students upon acceptance. All starting times are 8 am and will run until training is completed 5pm – 6pm.. Please register in advance as early as possible so that plans can be made for your training. If not enough students register for the class it maybe postponed or cancelled until 6 – 8 students are obtained. At times, this course maybe run with 6 students if approved by the director of training. Every effort is made to run classes as scheduled, however, we reserve the right to cancel as necessary, for low enrollment or acts beyond our control. Payment can be made by using the PayPal link or by sending your check or money order at least 7 days prior to the start of class. Refunds can be made for training which has been cancelled if requested or credit can be received and rolled over into the next training date.
Basic Information
Range Qualification: Each student is required to successfully pass two separate examinations in order to receive certification as an armed security guard. Students will be required to qualify twice with scores of 70% (175 out of a possible 250 points) upon completion of the 40-hour range instruction. Qualification score MUST be accomplished using the DUTY WEAPON and SERVICE DUTY AMMUNTION. The standard accepted target is a B-27 silhouette- standard 25-yard course of fire. Students will also be tested on Article 35 Defense of Justification (Penal Law).
